Getting To Paradise

Getting to Paradise isn’t straightforward, and requires having explored both the Overworld and Nether.

Bloomed Calcite

The portal frame is made of at least 10 blocks of Bloomed Calcite which is made with blocks of Calcite and Potions of Healing (not Regeneration). By placing blocks of Calcite into the world, you can right click Potions of Healing onto the blocks, or throw Splash Potions of Healing onto the blocks (sometimes for an extra conversion).

Bloomed Calcite has an additional use in that it can be used to accelerate crop growth by placing it directly below a farmland block with a crop planted on top of it.

Building the Portal

The Paradise portal is built exactly like a Nether portal with a minimum internal size of 2x3. Once the frame is a valid rectangle, you can light the portal by placing a Bucket of Water into the frame.

Goals

Paradise Lost has many advancements that can be viewed in game, but if you want some hints on what to do:

Moas

Moas are (perhaps overpowered) mounts that can glide around and store 20 slots worth of items. They come in many colors and are valuable in Paradise due to the frequent gaps between islands that would otherwise require bridging to cross. Popoms

Popoms are peaceful animals that can be farmed for useful healing items and are generally very cute. Check out their wiki page for more information about them!

Structures

If you are looking for loot, it’s best to start by searching out an Aurel Tower that has a Vault Explorer Map. This map will lead you to the nearest Vault structure, where you can find exclusive Glazed Gold Upgrade smithing templates among other goodies.

You may also come across a Birdcage structure where you can find Totems of Levitation which can save you from lethal falls or pull you out of the void (even in the End!)

Farming

Paradise is home to a few different crops:

  • Amadrys is a wheat-adjacent crop that requires at least 2 neighboring water source blocks to grow. You can get some by breaking Honey Nettles in a Highlands Shield
  • Flax is a two block tall crop that grows into flax thread that can be used to make lots of string or wool without the hassle of Spiders or Sheep. It is found in small patches in the grassy areas of Highlands Shields
  • Nitra are explosive vegetables that can be thrown like snowballs or bundled up into bunches that act as immediately detonating TNT blocks. You can rarely find Nitra Seeds in Aurel Towers
  • Swedroot is a root that grows down from soil blocks that have a water source block placed above. It can be turned into sugar as an alternative to Sugar Canes. It’s found infrequently growing underneath Paradise islands.

If you can get a Mother Aurel Sapling from a Highlands Thicket biome (or find one in a Vault), you’ll be able to strip Golden Amber off of the logs to get cheap renewable Gold.

Cracking a Meteorite

Between Paradise islands you may spot a partially encased Surtrum Meteorite. These can be cracked open with either a Diamond+ mining level pickaxe or with explosives (TNT or Nitra Bunches). Inside you’ll find a plentiful amount of Sutrum that can be refined into cheap, fireproof Diamond mining level tools.

Tool Progression

Besides Wooden and Stone tools, three other materials are available in Paradise for tool and armor making.

Olvite

A common green metalloid found at all elevations of Paradise islands. Comparable to Iron.

Can be used to make a Bloodstone that displays the race of a Moa.

Surtrum

An uncommon red metal found inside Surtrum Meteorites that hover in the lower gaps between islands. Comparable to Diamond but completely fireproof with lower durability.

Can be used to make a Bloodstone that displays the stats of a Moa.

Glazed Gold

A loot-exclusive Gold alternative obtained in Vault structures. Serves as an upgraded version of Gold, retaining the high enchantability and mining speed but raising the mining level and durability to be on par with Iron.
